Laboratory
The Laboratory provides a broad range of testing, both within the department and by referral to other Laboratory facilities. We are accredited by the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH). The Laboratory is located on the first floor of the Hospital right beside Diagnostic Imaging and is available to support in-patient, out-patient clinics and the Emergency Department on a 24/7 basis.
An HDH requisition is required in order to receive out-patient services. Out-patient services are available Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 12:00pm by booked appointment.
Testing offered includes:
- Clinical Chemistry and Special Chemistry
- Hematology
- Transfusion Medicine
- Serology
- Cultures
- Anatomic Pathology including Cytology
- Cardiology testing
Referral laboratories include the Inter-Hospital Laboratory Partnership Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance Stratford Site, London Health Sciences Center, LifeLabs and Public Health Laboratories.
The Inter-Hospital Laboratory Partnership (IHLP) Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance Stratford Site provides laboratory, consultant and pathologists’ services for Hanover & District Hospital. The partnership ensures the best use of resources, personnel expertise and funds, to provide excellent care to our patients. The partnership gives us access to a large group of knowledgeable people that would not be available if we were a stand-alone facility. This partnership serves to save the individual parties money by sharing costs on equipment purchases, contract negotiations with vendors, along with professional, consultant, and administrative costs.
